When do you use other instruments in your recording?

marlanertubridy

Composing, producing and creating are all tied together. Sometimes when a composer "hears" a new melody.....they will "hear" the exact instrument they want to play that theme.

That is exactly what happend to me on the upcoming release FOR ALL WHO BELIEVE.

It is an energetic, strong piece that takes the listener on a glorious "ride!"

The rhythm of one of the major themes, is a fast 6/8 or two groups of triplets. What does that mean? It means there is a strong sense of two "pulses" that permeate the melody.

1 2 3 4 5 6 with the first pulse being the strongest.

I instictively heard seaparted low "string" strokes being detached and strong to emphasize the beginning pulse of those two triplets:

Take a listen. Hear the extra strength on 1 and 4

The Celli and the Double Basses have a fun time providing the "excited" sense of urgency and excitement of the theme as a vocalists calls all strongly exactly the OPPOSITE of the strings detached play, in a lyrical connected phrase of joy and strength.

Imagine if I head the strings instead, tied together in a lyrical connected smooth play....Whole different feel to the theme.

Release is Wednesday Februry 5th......
