Lenten Song gives Hope & Joy on a Difficult Topic

This song gives Hope & Joy telling of God's promise we too shall walk in Eternal Life and that sins can be forgiven.
This song gives Hope & Joy telling of God's promise we too shall walk in Eternal Life and that sins can be forgiven.

We know we write songs about Love gone Right and Love gone wrong.

Hundred of topics fill our life and life of others.

But for a composer of Faith Based works, a topic on a more serious or sorrowful note can be a challenge. This is the case for this lenten song called I MUST SUFFER which is on the theme of The Passion & Resurrection of Christ.

I realize that this title might concern listeners that the song might be too difficult to listen to. Yet, I know this has to be the title, because it is the essence of what the song says.

I must suffer to redeem your life and to forgive your sins

The melodies of the song are encouraging and hopeful and strong felt.

Numerous times the phrase and theme for "You too shall walk in eternal life" rings out.

I thought, "How do I portray the upfelt nature of the song without having a chance to speak to them?"

It became obvious that the artwork for the cover must show, the emotions and the theme.

It has to show, yes He will suffer but that there is "more" to just the suffering.

I chose the master oilpainting of Jesus in the house of Annas by Jose de Madrazo y Agudo. The strength of the painting. Its strong colors. Its emphasis on the faces of those involved. The look on the face of Jesus as the betrayal proceeds.

In his look, there is the look that there is something "More" than what is and will occur.

It is his knowledge of the promise He has given and know of that this suffering will end is a resurrected proof of eternal life and that sins can be forgiven.

It is my hope that this painting choice, will encourage and bring people to draw into the story and to listen to the music of Jesus's words telling us we will walk with Him in Eternal life.

Till next time.
