Picking cover art for new releases... with composer

marlanertubridy

Next Monday, December 16th I am releasing an original song I composed using the text from the Annunciation to Mary from the gospels, It is entitled, HIGHLY FAVORED ONE

as the Angel in the beginning of the gospel proclaims.

I am very excited about the song and about introducing its two main singers, Martin Tubridy and Victore Tenore.

Martin's loving baritone voice sings the part of the Angel.

Victor's moving tenor voice, is the narrator of the told story.

I play the voice of Mary in response to the angel's greeting and request...

Picking a work of art for this song was important to me.

I wanted it to speak of the topic and to speak to the

emotions that were being felt in the real story and being portrayed in the song.

I found a photo of an oil paiting, entitled The Annunciation to Mary by an American painter, Henry Ossawa Tanner.

The Annunciation is an 1898 painting by the African-American painter Henry Ossawa Tanner. It depicts the biblical scene of the Annunciation, where the archangel Gabriel visits Mary to announce that she will give birth to Jesus.[1] The painting is held by the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

I loved that the angel is depicted as an "energy" field of light and

that Mary is cautiously listening and watching this unfold

as she hears the voice of the angel speaking to her....

I found this very moving and perfect for the feeling I wanted to portray to draw people into this recording of those very special moments. The moments where Mary hears the angel's greeting to her about conceiving a son.

Here is how I used it in the song cover art:

I used it both for the original song of the Annunciation and also for the new cover to be released of MARY DID YOU KNOW? wanting the same feeling of Mary listening to the Annunciation.

Will share with you the next time, how I found and chose the cover art for God's Only Son.

All the best

Composer/Artist, Marlane Tubridy
