This weekend is Pentecost. The gift of the Holy Spirit to those who believe.
There is a prayer, known as the Pentecost Sequence that is read at the Pentecost Masses.
It was originally in Latin and in chant.
It is known as, VENI SANCTE SPIRITUS
There are only four times a year that a "sequence" prayer is read at the liturgies.
They are:
Easter Sunday (“Victimae Paschali Laudes”),
Pentecost (“Veni Sancte Spiritus”),
Corpus Christi (“Lauda Sion Salvatorem”)
and Our Lady of Sorrows (“Stabat Mater Dolorosa”)
Here is a recording of the English version of the sequence.
Do you remember the seven gifts of the Spirit?
Wisdom
Understanding
Counsel
Fortitude
Knowledge
Piety
and Fear of the Lord
"Fear" of the Lord, did not mean "fear" scared or frightened of,"
but meant "" Reverence the Lord.
Hope you enjoy the weekend and use all the Gifts of the Spirit that we have.
All SEVEN!
All the best till the next time,
MalaneT
